Strictly for the most adventurous of you!
Explore old abandoned historical buildings, learn their stories and relive the past. Explore the underground art culture of Bucharest and learn the history and aftermath of communism in Romania through direct contact.
After 50 years of Communism and 20 odd years of transition, Bucharest is never short of abandoned urban beauty.
The renovation of 19th or early 20th century historical buildings – viewed a as symbol of upper class domination by socialist authorities – was never considered a priority by the governments of post-communist era. The lack of funds and high levels of corruption of state employees ‘helped’ the situation greatly. And when Ceausescu’s planned, centralized industry collapsed in 1989, the same fate was to befall on in-city factories and other industrial landmarks.
